World Diabetes Day is coming on November 14 :
World Diabetes Day (WDD) was created in 1991 by IDF and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the passage of United Nation Resolution 61/225.
WDD is the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign reaching a global audience of over 1 billion people in more than 160 countries. The campaign draws attention to issues of paramount importance to the diabetes world and keeps diabetes firmly in the public and political spotlight.
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose or sugar level is too high in your body and pancreas is not producing enough insulin in our body cells to maintain blood sugar level.
pancreas is an organ in our body that lies near our stomach. It produces a hormone called insulin. Insulin get in to our body cells and maintain our blood glucose level. When pancreas is not working properly and not producing enough insulin for our body then our blood sugar level is increased.
Too much glucose level in our blood can cause serious health problems. Although it has no complete cure yet but you can manage it by controlling your diet and doing regular exercise and stay healthy. Many people also call it “sugar”. Nowadays diabetes is very common disease in all over the world.
According to National Diabetes statics report 2017 in United States of America. An estimated 30.3 million people of all ages or 9.4% of United Sates population had diabetes in 2015. This total 30.2 million adults that are aged 18 years or older ( 12.2% of all U.S adults ) of which 7.2 million ( 23.8% ) were not aware of or did not report having diabetes. The percentage of adults with diabetes increased with age, reaching high of 25.2% among those aged 65 years or older.
Manage Diabetes :
Physical activity is another important part to manage diabetes. When you exercise, your muscles use sugar (glucose) for energy. Regular physical activity also helps your body use insulin more efficiently.
These factors work together to lower your blood sugar level. The more strenuous your workout, the longer the effect lasts. But even light activities — such as housework, gardening or being on your feet for extended periods — can improve your blood sugar.
